Trucks India: research, compare and choose the right truck

Trucks India is an Indian truck research and intelligence platform for people who buy, run and finance commercial vehicles. It lists 497 new trucks, pickups, tippers and electric cargo vehicles from 30 brands on one independent site, so buyers can decide on clear, comparable data instead of scattered brochures and dealer claims.

Buying a truck is a major business investment, and the right choice depends on load, route, fuel and budget. Trucks India organises the market around those questions: browse by truck type, price range, payload, number of wheels or fuel type and reach a shortlist in minutes.

Every model page lists variants, specifications, mileage and a price breakdown, and two trucks can be set side by side with the truck comparison tool. Check today’s diesel and fuel prices to work out running costs before you buy. Our content follows a published editorial policy, and listings are updated as makers launch, revise or discontinue models.

Find trucks by type

Trucks for every budget

Shortlist by price: trucks under ₹10 lakh for small businesses, ₹10–20 lakh and ₹20–30 lakh trucks for growing fleets, and trucks above ₹50 lakh for heavy haulage. Each model page breaks its price down by variant.

On-road price vs ex-showroom price

The ex-showroom price is the maker’s listed price before registration and taxes. The on-road price adds RTO registration, road tax and insurance, and often the cost of the load body. Our on-road estimates add about 7% in Delhi, about 8% in Chennai and about 10% in Mumbai and Bengaluru; each model’s price page shows the figure by city. Always ask the dealer for a written breakup of RTO, insurance and body charges.

Choose by payload and axle configuration

Match the truck to the load you actually carry. Browse trucks with up to 2.5 ton payload, 5–10 ton payload or 25–30 ton payload, or by configuration, from 6 wheeler and 10 wheeler trucks to 12 wheeler, 14 wheeler and 18 wheeler trucks.

Popular truck brands in India

Explore the full line-ups of Tata Motors (161 models), Ashok Leyland (93), Eicher (65), Mahindra (40) and BharatBenz (38), along with SML Isuzu and Force Motors, global makers like Volvo, Scania and MAN, and electric-truck brands such as EKA, Switch Mobility and Euler EV.

Compare before you buy

Head-to-head comparisons set price, payload, engine, mileage and running cost side by side. Buyers most often compare the Tata Ace Gold vs Mahindra Jeeto, the Ashok Leyland Dost vs Tata Ace Gold, the Tata Intra V30 vs Tata Yodha and the Eicher Pro 2049 vs Tata 407 Gold SFC. See all truck comparisons.

Best trucks for every business

Each business needs a different truck. These are the categories buyers most often shortlist by use:

Understanding truck specifications

  • Payload vs GVW: payload is the cargo a truck may legally carry; gross vehicle weight (GVW) is the truck plus that cargo. Shortlist by the load you carry with the payload lists.
  • Licence: a truck with GVW up to 7,500 kg is a light motor vehicle, and since the Supreme Court’s November 2024 ruling an ordinary LMV licence covers it; heavier trucks need a transport licence. See mini trucks and LCVs.
  • Wheels and axles: more axles spread the load and raise the permitted GVW. Compare 4 wheelers for city work with 16 wheelers and 22 wheelers for heavy haulage.
  • Emission norms: new trucks sold in India meet Bharat Stage VI. See all BS-VI trucks and BS-VI Phase 2 trucks.
  • Mileage: fuel is usually the biggest running cost. Browse trucks with 5–10 km/l, 10–15 km/l or above 30 km/l claimed mileage.

Diesel, CNG or electric?

Diesel trucks still dominate heavy and long-distance work. CNG trucks from Tata, Ashok Leyland and Eicher suit cities with a good gas network. Electric trucks make sense on fixed, predictable routes with depot charging. Check current fuel prices in your city to compare running costs.

How to buy the right truck

  1. Define your load, route and daily distance, then pick a truck type and payload range.
  2. Set a budget with the price-range lists, keeping fuel, insurance and maintenance in mind.
  3. Shortlist two or three models and compare them side by side on payload, engine, mileage and warranty.
  4. Check the variant-wise price in India; on-road prices vary by state because of RTO charges and insurance.
  5. Request a call back and our team will help you finalise.
