A pickup truck is a light goods vehicle with a closed cabin and an open, fixed-side load deck behind it. Indian pickups use diesel engines of about 1.9 to 2.8 litres, sit on a ladder frame with leaf-spring rear suspension, and are built for intercity runs, rough roads and farm work as well as town delivery. Several, such as the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, Mahindra Bolero Camper and Toyota Hilux, are offered with four-wheel drive.
A mini truck is smaller and lighter: a compact small commercial vehicle such as the Tata Ace, Tata Intra, Mahindra Jeeto, Mahindra Veero or Maruti Suzuki Super Carry, with a smaller engine and a tight turning circle for narrow city lanes and last-mile delivery.
